Breakdown and Analysis: Girls Varsity Basketball (3/19/14)
36 years have come and gone along with several basketball teams that had potential of reaching the state championship. Between that time period the South Windsor Girls Varsity Bobcats were held from contention on the state's largest stage. But the decades of frustration is behind our team and our school. A basketball title for South Windsor High School has never seemed closer. It may be now when one is fascinated by the strength of the 2014 Bobcats. They changed the emotion of competitive ball from "another year of just-not-enough" to "this is our year" in a matter of games.
Even without Amy McConell and Kaitlen Labonte, the Bobcats were still able to prove themselves state finals material. Going into Mohegan Sun they have a very deep team in terms of talent, but you cannot ignore the players who have stepped up this year. Christina Rozie has been the 'Cats go-to scorer this year while Olivia Boldin has been lethal on the boards.
The girls varsity basketball has given the school a chance to cherish a successful playoff run and a rush of school spirit. The game of the year, possibly the victory of the year is only days away.
